Perm State Agro-Technological University is one of a select group of the specialized higher education institutions in Russia devoted solely to the study of agricultural aspects, starting from plant growing or livestock product processing to biotechnologies or software engineering. Founded in 1918 as a faculty of agriculture and forestry at the Perm State University, it became an independent Ural Agricultural Institute in 1930 and awarded an academy status in 1995. 

The University is named after a famous scientist of agrochemistry D.N. Pryanishnikov. Nowadays the Perm State Agro-Technological University is an innovative institution with an emphasis on education and research as a pathway to professional success.

University is dedicated to providing a world-class education for its 5,000 students. It offers affordable, nationally-recognized qualifications in higher and further education, with 7 faculties (including Extramural Education Faculty) and lots of diverse courses (Bachelor courses: 24; Specialist courses: 2; Master courses: 17; PhD courses: 6). Students are encouraged to participate in activities outside the curricular commitments in order to broaden the educational base, to gain achievement in other fields and to stimulate interest in a range of enjoyable activities. The extra-curricular activities will not only give a chance to relax from the studies but, more importantly, give time to socialize and make friends with students from other countries and cultures.
